Vocal Lessons @ The Music Clinic 210707
its my third lesson. diaphragmatic lessons by lynn again. nxt week is theory lesson by mark. theory means no singing? damn. anyways i still must practise my breathing. im taking too little air in. dunno how the rest do so well. especially steward whos singing is lyk ZOMG horrible. thou i must say. he did improve. and this week we discovered his other problem. his diction is horrible. he cant seem t pronounce certain words. i had t lyk teach him? hahah. i mean this is basic man. i wonder did he fail his mandarin oral in JC.
anyways. i din hav much problems wif my singing. just got nasally in the first chorus as i got carried away. den it was all fine. and yes finally. i dun hafta sing dang ni gu dan ni hui xiang qi shui anymore. the week after next is back to diaphramatic lessons. tis time we're gonna learn hw to sing high notes wif our diaphragms. and lynn ask us to go home n listen 3 songs. 我还能爱谁 by 许志安 , 剪爱 and 知道 by 张惠妹. guess im gonna sing 知道. we got 2 weeks t practise since nxt week isnt lynn's lesson.
my birthday in 1 week! anyways couple of frens haf already celebrated it wif me. will update bout that in my nxt blog post tmr.

I Love My Vocal Lessons
i just had my 2nd vocal lesson last sat. first lesson was assessment by the principal/founder himself, Peter Tan. yes he is that judge from the first campus superstar. there are 5 students in
my class including me. first lesson, 4 were present, 3 guys and a gurl. hrmm lemme recall their
names. sherry, matthias and steward and of cuz the other guy is me. we did a lil self introduction
and lessons got underway.
objective of the day was to assess our pitching and then our vocals. we were told to sing out
do re me fa so la ti to. so steward started first. he was good. den came my turn. peter lao shi
requested me to sing it back words as in to ti la so fa mi re do. i stunned. i din know hw t do it backwards cuz i've nva done it in my life. gosh and i was stuck for so long dat lao shi gave up on me and asked me t just sing do re mi the normal way. i cld do it quite well and dat baffled him. he asked me why i cant do it backwards since i already do it the normal way. hahah. i have no idea man. then came vocal assessment. steward was first t start. and since his do re mi sounded nt bad, i thot he may be a good singer. he chose t sing forever love. when he started t sing,
me n peter laoshi looked at each other in amazement. his voice was... horrendous!! he's got serious
problem in projecting his voice, diction and the whole song was so.."nasal-ly". he got a
poor for overall performance. next was me. i sang jay's feng. bahh i din alrite only.
umm i got overall fair but i got no poor. i got 1 good and all fair. and yes dat was the best among
the 4 of us. matthias sang tonghua he got 1 good, 2 poor and a couple of fair. i din see sherry's assessment card thou. but i cld see frm far. she got a couple of poor too. she chose the wrong song says peter laoshi. as for me, peter laoshi said my control of my breathing is poor as i sing loud n soft at different parts of the song. on high notes, i sounded nasal as i din sing it frm my diaphragm and of course, i got no FEEL in performing my song. so yeah. gotta improve on these points.
week 2's lesson was diaphragmatic exercises. it is thought by another teacher called lynn. basically the objective of the day is t teach us diaphragmatic exercises and to sing from our diaphragm instead of our nasal area which most people will do when they are goin into a high note. we will b taught hw t breathe into our belly, front ribs and back ribs. but for the day, we just had t learn the belly one cuz we hafta go home n practise dat. so for example sake, lynn laoshi demostrated. and t let us know how it is done n where the air is suppose t be stored, she took our hand n place it on her belly. this week i was first to go and hell i was shocked when she took my hand n place it on her belly. hahaha. but i was really nervous and bashful when she took my hand n place it at her front rib (which is just below her boob). my mind was just lyk "omg omg shit shit". hahah. but when she actually breathe and stored air at her ribs. i was so amazed. i got a shock as i felt her rib area expand. okay then dat took my mind back to the lesson. so cool. hw i wish i cld do dat too. oh well i can do dat in time to come. hahaha. so for the next 3 lessons, we will be learning different stages of this diaphragmatic thingy. and the song we gotta sing for the nxt 3 weeks is
Zhang Dong Liang's Dang Ni Gu Dan Ni Hui Xiang Qi Shui. i sang the song twice during lesson.
first time round, my high notes sounded nasal-ly again. and no feel. so after lynn laoshi told me my mistakes, i made changes t my singing and gave it another
shot. and this time lynn laoshi said it was alrite. at least i din sound nasally lyk b4.
im practising that zhang dong liang song and another of his, bei ji xing de yan lei. so i can sing that in the next vocal assessment. im just lovin my vocal lessons. how i wish it was more often.
lyk maybe twice a week. not t mention, the counter gurl is soo cute. hahaha. dats besides the point. im really loving this. i dunno why i started so late. im really gonna put in my best t learn and master whatever im taught.
cant wait for nxt saturday!

Taking the first step to my dream

Yes! thats where im going to attend vocal singing classes. Thats the place that produced project superstar and campus superstar finalists. Daren chen (Project superstar 2 Winner), Chen Diya (Project superstar 2 runner up) and Ng Imm Khim (Campus superstar finalist) are the few to name that are/were from The Music Clinic.
I just wanna do this and perhaps join competition b4 i enter the dreaded adulthood. sometimes adulthood scares me too. its just too near. i've got so little time left. i must chase my dream.
.. and this is the first step.
